Few people in a young man’s life can have as much impact as a coach.
For good or for bad.
Our coaches are the most important volunteers. They will spend the most time with the players and will make the greatest impact.
If you would like to be a coach, we will provide you with some resources and training that we’ve developed over the years.
You don’t have to have a ton of experience, but you should have a good working knowledge of the sport.
Age doesn’t matter either. We’ve had coaches in their teens and in their 60s.
You will need to be at every game, unless you absolutely can not get out of a previous committment.
If you want to get involved, know the sport, but know you can’t be there every week, consider volunteering as a ref.
Here is a story about a guy that really understands the privilege of being a coach.
Rules – We use NFL Flag rules, with a couple of modifications.
1. We have 4 downs to cross mid-field and 4 downs to score (NFL Flag uses 3 downs)
2. Our “Throw Clock” – the time that a QB has to throw the ball is closer to about 10 seconds.
Plays – Here are some plays that have been successful over the years.
Feel free to use these or come up with your own. (We STRONGLY suggest you continue to use the color coded system shown here)
Player Position Chart – We want ALL players to play EVERY position.
To make it easier for the coaches to do that we have a player position chart that can help you keep track of who has played where and when.
Season of Life – This book is recommended reading for all coaches (and anyone that works with kids.)
